Frequently Asked Questions
Products, Customisations & Care
Yes. Select pieces within our collection can be bespoke-tailored to suit your specific spatial dimensions or architectural design requirements. We provide full transparency regarding expected lead times and any additional costs before manufacturing begins.
Solid Iroko timber naturally contains rich protective oils, making it ideal for outdoor weather exposure. When your furniture arrives, it may display slight variations in colour and tone. Over 4 to 6 months, exposure to air and sunlight will oxidise the timber into an even, attractive silver-grey patina.
During this period, natural weather exposure may cause small hairline cracks (checking) to develop. This is completely normal timber movement, does not affect structural durability, and is not a defect.
Maintenance: Iroko requires minimal maintenance. To preserve the weathered silver look, simply keep it clean. If you prefer the warmer original wood tone, you can lightly sand and re-oil the piece with a high-quality exterior timber oil (such as Danish oil).
Wood is a natural material with unique grain patterns and character, ensuring every piece is one of a kind. Additionally, monitor displays, screen settings, and ambient lighting can alter how colours appear online. Displayed images and swatches are indicative representations of the final finish.

Delivery, Lead Times & Festive Shutdown
Everything across our curated collection is made to order. Production lead times vary depending on the item:
- Smaller Items (e.g. Lighting & Decor): Typically 1 to 3 weeks.
- Luxury Timber Furniture (e.g. Solid Iroko Outdoor Collections): Typically 6 to 8 weeks.
Specific lead time guidelines are detailed on each individual product page, and realistic timeline updates will be provided as your order progresses.
Please inspect all external cartons before signing the courier waybill. If you cannot inspect the contents immediately, write “UNCHECKED – SUBJECT TO INSPECTION” next to your signature. If you discover transit damage or missing items, notify us within 3 business days at support@chelseagh.co.za with photographs of the damaged item and packaging so we can arrange prompt replacements.
Our online store remains open 24/7; however, our workshop and logistics teams take an annual break typically from mid December to early January.
Because all of our items are made to order with varying lead times ranging from 1 to 3 weeks for smaller items and up to 6 to 8 weeks for luxury timber furniture, there is no single cut-off date for the entire store.
To ensure your items arrive before our festive closure, please follow these steps:
- Check the Lead Time: Look at the specific lead time listed on your desired product's page.
- Work Backwards: Calculate that number of weeks backwards from 16 December.
(For example: If an item has an 8-week lead time, your order must be placed by 21 October 2026 to guarantee pre-festive delivery. If an item has a 2-week lead time, your cut-off date is 1 December.)
Orders placed after a product's respective cut-off date will be dispatched as a priority when our workshop and logistics teams resume operations in early January.
If you are unsure of your product's lead time or need assistance calculating your deadline, please contact our team and we will gladly help you plan your order.
Returns, Cancellations & Refunds
In addition to the 7-day statutory cooling-off period under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA), we offer a 14-day return window from the date of delivery for standard items. Items must be completely unused, un-assembled, and in their original packaging.

Refunds are processed via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) into your nominated South African bank account or reversed to your original payment card at our discretion:
- EFT Refunds: Reflect in your bank account within 1 to 3 working days after clearance.
- Card Reversals: Reflect in your account within 2 to 5 working days after clearance, or within 1 to 2 billing cycles on credit card statements, depending on your card issuer.
